Wentworth House dates back to C1850. Built by Hudson a 19th century property / land entreprenuer in his spare time. His main career being that of George Stephensons chief engineer. Deeds of the house reflect his occupation in that it stipulates that a Steam Engine should never be allowed to be kept in the back yard! Also, for some unfathomable reason, no Pigs! God knows where anyone could or would keep a steam engine or a pig for that matter as there simply isn't the space.
These houses along Hudson St were primerily built for reasonably well off families, people who were in the shipping business. Prosperous traders etc. Enough room for family, a few servants and your statutory maiden aunt. Such room of course transfers nicely into B&B accommodation.
